Lesbian Advocates-Philippines (LeAP!), Manila
LeAP's! mission is to work towards a society that recognizes and respects the responsible expression and exercise of reproductive and sexual rights and choices of all people regardless of their sex, gender, sexual orientation and other status. This is achieved through raising societal awareness on the various issues and concerns faced by lesbians, offering
training and capability building workshops, lobbying that will bring about legislative and policy changes, conducting research and compiling documentation in order to form a solid basis for its advocacy initiatives, providing support services to the lesbian community and their families, promoting the creative expressions of lesbians through literature and
artistic productions. housing a resource centre, and organizing public events.
Likhaan, Quezon City
Likhaan, housed the University of The Philippines, was founded in recognition of the important role of literature in the development of the nation. Its twofold aim is to stimulate writers from all parts of the Philippines to create and contribute to national cultural development and to assert the leadership of the University of the Philippines in Creative
Writing. To achieve this, Likhaan hosts a National Writer's Workshop, awards several National Fellowships, and develops and disseminates publications.
The Health Action Information Network (HAIN), Manila
Involved in health education and research, it mainly works with community-based organizations involved in health and development, with emphasis on reproductive health (including prevention of HIV/AIDS, STDs and other reproductive tract infections); environmental health, and the appropriate use of medicines. HAIN also houses publications and a resource
centre.
Rainbow Rights Project
The Rainbow Rights Project (R-Rights), Inc. is a group of lesbian and gay
lawyers and legal activists who are dedicated to promoting a rational discourse
on the rights of lesbians, gays, bisexuals, and transgenders (LGBTs). Following
its registration in 2005, and formal launch, the group has launched the “Pink
Card” which sought to educate LGBTs about their basic human rights, and inform
them of what to do in case they are arrested or criminally charged for offenses
commonly filed against LGBTs; the “Blue Card” which is a primer for the legal
protection of lesbians in intimate relationships; and the “Lilac Card” which is
a guide that outlines the rights of lesbians in the work place. R-Rights has
likewise assisted in several cases affecting the legal rights of specific LGBT
individuals and has also responded to several legal queries on various LGBT
issues and served as resource persons for various academic researches and fora
on LGBT concerns..
